Due to the shortage of inventory at Hoosier and American Racer, the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series and the Brucebilt Iron-Man Open Wheel Series will be restricting the number of tires nightly until further notice. The tire rule isn’t changing but drivers will be restricted to a certain number of tires allowed per event. All tires will be marked and date codes will be collected.
Starting with this Friday and Saturday’s Brucebilt Iron-Man Open Wheel Series races at Crossville and I-75 Raceway, drivers will be required to run the same tires in qualifying and will be allowed (1) one new right rear tire for the feature event. This rule will also be enforced for June 19 at Smoky Mountain Speedway. Open wheel tires will be marked before qualifying and only those tires will be allowed for the feature plus the additional tire allowed which will also be marked in the lineup shoot before the main event.
Starting with Friday June 18 at Ponderosa Speedway and Saturday June 19 at Smoky Mountain Speedway, drivers will be required to run the same tires for qualifying, heats and any consey races. Drivers will then be allowed to change only (1) rear tire. This will be northern / southern combo race June 18 and June 19 is a southern race.
June 25 and June 26 at Atomic Speedway, drivers will be required to run the Hoosier 1300 on the fronts and left rear while the 1425 and 1300 will be allowed on the right rear. Drivers must run the same tires for qualifying, heats and conseys. Drivers will be allowed to change one new rear tire for the feature.
We’re hoping by mid-August we’ll able to go back to our normal tire rules which are listed on our website. Before each race, a bulletin will be posted with the tire rule. The tire rules will not change, only the restriction on number of tires allowed per night until the shortage is over.
