Josh Rice Rolls to Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern Series Victor “Ike” Moler Memorial Win at Moler Raceway Park

WILLIAMSBURG, OHIO (August 27, 2021)– The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern Series would make its first-ever appearance at Moler Raceway Park in Williamsburg, OH on Friday evening for the track’s 14th Victor “Ike” Moler Memorial and Josh Rice of Verona, KY would lead all 40 laps of the contest on his way to a $4,000 victory.

The win for the 23 Rice would be his second Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series win of the season and would be his third career Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model victory. Rice’s victory would come behind the wheel of a Rocket Chassis with a Jay Dickens Race Engine and carry sponsorship from Sunesis Holdings, Blox Spiced Ice, ATC Bolts and Fasteners, Base Racing Fuel, Rice Brothers Racing, Maxwell Trucking, Extreme Sportswear Sales, Valvoline, Integra Shocks, and Slicker Graphics.

Josh Rice would take the lead at the start of the 14th Annual Victor “Ike” Moler Memorial main event, followed by Duane Chamberlain, Kody Evans, Steve Casebolt, and Devin Gilpin. Gilpin would take the fourth spot from Casebolt on lap three, while Rice would set a torrid pace out front and begin working slower traffic by lap seven. Gilpin and Casebolt would continue their entertaining battle for the fourth position, with Casebolt retaking the spot on lap ten. The first caution of the race flew on lap twelve when Daniel Kattine’s machine would slow on the backchute. The front five would remain the same on the restart, with Josh Rice pulling away once again. Gilpin would finally win the battle with Casebolt for the fourth position and claim the spot for good on lap fourteen, with James Rice taking fifth from Casebolt one tour later. Gilpin would charge his way to third-place running Evans and would move into the final podium position on lap twenty. As Josh Rice maintained a comfortable lead at the point, the caution flag would slow the race again on lap twenty-six when fourth-place running Evans would slow in turn four. This restart would see Josh Rice remain the leader, followed by Chamberlain, Gilpin, James Rice, and Kirk Phillips. Phillips would pressure James Rice for the fourth spot and take the position on lap thirty-two, while Gilpin would ramp up his advances on second toward Chamberlain and grab the runner-up slot on lap thirty-four. The final caution waved as the field was working lap thirty-eight when fifth place running James Rice would slow in turn four and be finished for the event. Josh Rice would maintain the lead on the restart and drive on the victory, with Gilpin coming home second and Chamberlain finishing third. Phillips and Dustin Nobbe would complete the top five.

The next event for the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern Series will be Saturday August 28 at Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, KY for the Harold Hardgrove Memorial (A Tribute to Allen Tilley), paying $10,022 to win. This will also be a points event for the Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series.
