Possible $30,000 to 2022 Valvoline “Iron-Man” Late Model Overall Champion

SOMERSET, KENTUCKY (January 28, 2022)— The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series has announced an additional point fund increase for the 2022 season.

CT Promotions President Chris Tilley has announced that a possible $30,000 will go to the overall series champion at the end of the 2022 season if one driver wins both the Northern and Southern tours.

As of current, the Northern Series champion receives $5,000 and the Southern Series champion receives $15,000. If one driver wins both championship titles an additional $10,000 will be paid out bringing the total to $30,000 for the overall series title. Additionally, any driver who makes every feature race on the 33-race schedule will earn $1,000. Per the series rule book, the points fund is based on 80 percent of scheduled races must be completed and 100 percent of racer attendance.

With each tour not running any conflicting events, several being combo races of each tour together on the same night, a total of 33 races will be ran with a possible $30,000 to the overall series champion. The full schedule(s) can be found on the website. All series points paying events throughout the season pay a minimum of $5,000-to-win and $450-to-start.

The Southern Late Model tour opens the points season on Saturday March 5 at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tenn. paying $12,000-to-win and $1,000-to-start during the 9th Annual Tennessee Tip-Off Classic which is co-sanctioned with the Ultimate Super Late Model Series. The Northern Late Model tour opens the points season on Friday April 15 at Ponderosa Speedway in Junction City, Ky. paying $5,000-to-win and $450-to-start during the Spring Showdown event. The Southern Series will host the season-opening non-points event on February 5 at Boyd’s Speedway in Ringgold, Ga. paying $5,000-to-win for the 14th Annual Cabin Fever 40.

“I wanted to make the points fund bigger this year to say thank you to those who support us and we’ve also gained a lot of new sponsors lately which we’ll be announcing next week. Our race tracks, race teams, drivers, sponsors and most of all our great fans mean the world to us, we couldn’t do it without them,” stated Tilley.
