Iron-Man Late Model Series
Cory Hedgecock Charms the Field in Sweetheart Victory at 411 Motor Speedway
SEYMOUR, TENNESSEE (February 19, 2022)– 411 Motor Speedway present its annual Sweetheart event on Saturday and CT Promotions/Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series would sanction the Super Late Model portion of the event and Cory Hedgecock of Loudon, TN would lead all 40 laps of the event on his way to a $5,000 payday.
Hedgecock, 29 years of age, would claim the victory aboard his Black Diamond Race Car powered by an Eagle Race Engine with sponsorship from E-Z-GO, Eagle Race Engines, Voo Doo Technology, Pace Performance, K and P Used Cars, Budget Transmissions, I-75 Raceway, Green’s Recycling, W.E. Hardscape and Masonry, Circle H Service, NobleKnights Construction Service, Hickory Hardscapes, and Cobb’s Auto Parts.
The start of the Super Late Model feature event would not see a lap completed as a seven-car melee would occur in turn four before the opening circuit was completed. The second attempted start of the event would see Cory Hedgecock and Sam Seawright battle for the lead on the opening lap before Hedgecock would slide in front of Seawright in turn four and take the race lead, followed by Seawright, Heath Hindman, Jensen Ford, and Christian Hanger. The front five would remain the same until lap five when Ford would drive around Hindman for the third position. Hedgecock would pull away from the field and would begin working slower traffic on lap thirteen, while Dalton Cook would challenge Hanger for fifth and would eventually take the position on lap eighteen. Hedgecock would work through traffic and build his lead even more, while Ford would run down Seawright and snag the runner-up slot on lap twenty-five. Seawright would work back around Ford on lap twenty-six for second, but Ford would claim the spot for good on lap twenty-seven, while continued his march as he would take the third position from Hindman on the same circuit. Hedgecock would build a lead of over four seconds, while Cook would continue his late-race charge and take the third position away Seawright on lap thirty-six. The only other caution of the race would appear on lap thirty-seven when Cameron Weaver would loop his machine in turn four. The restart would see the front five remain the same, with Hedgecock keeping Ford at bay for the final four laps to claim the victory, with Ford settling for runner-up honors, while Cook would complete the podium finishers in third. Seawright and Hindman would complete the top five. The remainder of the top ten finishers would be thirteenth-place starting Wil Herrington, Josh Henry, Jed Emert, Forrest Trent, and Hanger.
