Smoky Mountain Speedway Opens 2022 with Tennessee Tip-Off Classic on Saturday March 5
Features Valvoline Late Models & Ultimate Late Models in a Shootout for $12,000
MARYVILLE, TN (February 23, 2022)—Smoky Mountain Speedway located in Maryville, Tenn. is gearing up for a big 2022 season starting with the 9th Annual Tennessee Tip-Off Classic on Saturday March 5. The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series co-sanctioned with the Ultimate Super Late Model Series will battle 60 laps for $12,000-to-win and $1,000-to-start.
In addition to the ground pounding Super Late Models on March 5, the 604 Late Models will race for $1,500-to-win and the Kajun Mini Stocks racing for $1,500-to-win. There will be an open practice on Friday Night March 4th from 6:00 pm until 9:00 pm with the gates opening at 5:00 pm. The charge for practice is $20.00 per person in the pits. Stands and tier parking will be free for spectators.
On Saturday March 5, the pit gates will open at 2:00 pm, the grandstand and tier parking will open at 3:00 pm. The drivers meeting will be at 5:30 pm with hot laps slated to roll out at 6:00 pm. All times Eastern. General grandstand admission is $30 (ages 12 and up) with children 11 and under admitted free. Tier parking is $40 (ages 12 and up) with children 11 and under free. Pit passes are $40 (ages 12 and up) and $20 for children 11 and under.
The Valvoline Iron-Man and Ultimate Super Late Model Series will both co-sanction this event. The tire rule will be as follows: Hoosier 1350, American Racer 48 anywhere. Right rear options include a Hoosier 1600 or American Racer 56. The same (4) tires will be marked and will be allowed for qualifying, heat races and the consolation races. Two new tires will be allowed for the feature. The 2022 “Unified” rules will be in effect. The droop rule and new body rules are part of this package which begins for both series as they start the points seasons.
