Karl Kustoms Bristol Dirt Nationals Next for Valvoline Iron-Man Late Models
BRISTOL, TENNESSEE (March 14, 2022)—The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series will head to “Thunder Valley” Bristol Motor Speedway in Bristol, Tenn. for the Second Annual Karl Kustoms Bristol Dirt Nationals for four events (March 25-26 then April 1-2) paying $50,000-to-win and $2,500-to-start each night with a feature purse of $150,000. Each event will be co-sanctioned with the XR Super Series and a points fund totaling $300,000 will go out at the end of the four events with the Champion receiving $100,000.
The biggest names of the sport will converge on the half-mile dirt covered Bristol Motor Speedway vying for the title of the Karl Kustoms Bristol Dirt Nationals Champion. During last year's event, Chris Ferguson picked up a preliminary win with Jonathan Davenport taking home the Bristol Dirt Nationals title and $50,000. Completing the top-five from last year’s main event included Kyle Larson, Scott Bloomquist, Bobby Pierce and Frank Ingram.
The first week of action (March 20-26) features 602 Late Models, Modifieds, Sport Mods, Stock Cars, Hobby Stocks and the Super Late Models. The second and final week of action (March 27-April 2) features 604 Late Models, Open Modifieds, Factory Stocks, Street Stocks, Hornets and Super Late Models.
The XR Super Series / Valvoline Iron-Man Late Models will race on Friday and Saturday each week for $50,000-to-win. A practice session for the Super Late Models will take place on Thursday March 24 and Thursday March 31.
Grandstand tickets start at $40 per day which are now on sale online at www.racexr.shop and $45 per day at the track on Friday and Saturday of each weekend. All seating is General Admission. Brandon Overton of Evans, Ga. is the most recent Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Southern Series winner on March 5 at Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tenn. during the Tennessee Tipoff Classic.
The Super Late Model tire rule for the Karl Kustoms Bristol Dirt Nationals will be: LF, RF, LR, RR - Hoosier 1350 (21), 1600 (55) & LM40 and American Racer 48, 56. *Must use the same set of 4 tires for Time Trials, Heat Races, and B-Mains. May change (2) tires for A-Main (subject to change) **Tire Samples can be taken at any time or place during the event. ***Flat tire must be replaced with a used tire of the same compound and construction to retain starting position. The weight rule is 2350 lbs. all night except the feature and (1) lb. per lap burnoff will be allowed. The droop rule will be enforced.
