Iron-Man Late Model Series
Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series and Brucebilt Performance Parts Iron-Man Modified Southern Series at Lake Cumberland Speedway May 14
SOMERSET, KENTUCKY (May 9, 2022) – The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern and Southern Series and Brucebilt Performance Parts Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Southern Series will be at Lake Cumberland Speedway on Saturday May 14 for the Wayne’s Auto Repair 40. The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Northern and Southern Series competitors will race for $7,500 to win/$500 to start and the Brucebilt Performance Parts Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Southern Series racers will be in action for $1,500 to win/$150 to start.
The Super Late Model portion of the event was originally scheduled to pay $5,000 to win, but Lake Cumberland Speedway track sponsor Wayne’s Auto Repair added $2,500 to the winner’s purse for the event to make the race now pay $7,500 to win.
The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series Northern and Southern Series will be at Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, KY on Saturday May 14 for the Wayne’s Auto Repair 40 and will be featured in a full program of Practice, E-Z-GO Time Trials, Sunoco Race Fuels Heats, B-Mains, and the 40-lap, $7,500 to win/$500 to start Wayne’s Auto Repair 40. The Brucebilt Performance Parts Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Southern Series will also be in competition in a full program of Practice, E-Z-GO Time Trials, Sunoco Race Fuels Last Chance Heats, and a 25-lap, $1,500 to win/$150 to start feature event. Other divisions in action at Lake Cumberland Speedway for the Wayne’s Auto Repair 40 on Saturday May 14 will be the track’s Pro Late Models ($1,200 to win), Hobby Stocks ($400 to win), and Front Wheel Drive Mini Stocks ($400 to win).
Activities at Lake Cumberland Speedway for the Wayne’s Auto Repair 40 will see the pit area open at 2:00 p.m. and general admission area open at 3:00 p.m. The drivers meeting will be at 6:30 p.m., with practice laps and time trials to get underway at 7:00 p.m. Ticket prices at Lake Cumberland Speedway for the Wayne’s Auto Repair 40 in the general admission area will be $25 (children ages 10 and under are free), while a pit pass will be $40.
The Valvoline Iron-Man Late Model Series will sanction the Super Late Model portion of the event on Saturday May 14 and the tire rule will be as follows: Hoosier 1350, 1600, LM40 (Crate 21 and 55 also are fine) or American Racer 48 and 56 (if the series needs to do a tire rule limiting the number of tires per night it will, but as of now the series will not be limiting the number of tires for either series; NO 29.0 size tires on the left rear; the droop rule will be in effect, along with the new standardized 2022 body rules). The entry fee will be $100 and transponders for timing/scoring will be available for rent at the track. Any driver not making the 22-car starting field will receive $50 tow money.
The Brucebilt Performance Parts Iron-Man Open Wheel Modified Series will sanction the Open Wheel Modified portion of the program both nights and the tire rule will be as follows: Hoosier M30s, M60, Medium, Hard; American Racer Hard and Extra Hard (only Hoosier M60, Hard, and American Racer Extra Hard are allowed as right-rear tire options; grooving and siping of tires are allowed per UMP rulebook; UMP 2022 body rules apply; no limit of tires used per night). The entry fee will be $40 per event and transponders for timing/scoring purposes will be available for rent at the track. Any driver not making the 20-car starting field will receive $30 tow money.
