Dohm Wins Impact RaceGear 40 with the Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series Fueled by VP Racing Fuels at MRP Raceway Park

WILLIAMSBURG, OHIO (June 14, 2024)– The Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series Fueled by VP Racing Fuels would return to MRP Raceway Park in Williamsburg, OH on Friday evening for the first time since 2021 for the Impact RaceGear 40 presented by Shane Bailey Racing, CT Promotions, and Valvoline. After forty laps of competition, Zack Dohm of Cross Lanes, WV would lead all forty laps of the event and claim a $5,000 payday.

The victory by the 35-year-old Dohm, a second-generation racer, would be his first win with the series for the season and his third career series victory. Dohm’s entry is the ZNT Racing owned Longhorn Chassis powered by a Vic Hill Race Engine with sponsorship from Dohm Cycles, Tim Short Auto Group, Way Floor Covering, JWMPS, Dohm Farms, and Daggett Rentals.

The start of the Impact RaceGear 40 Valvoline A-Main event would see a six-car tangle in turn one before a lap was completed that saw Shane Bailey and Avery Taylor be finished for the event. The second attempted start to the race would see Zack Dohm grab the race lead, with Seth Daniels, James Rice, Devin Gilpin, and R.J. Conley in pursuit. Dohm would quickly open a comfortable lead as the front five remained the same until lap seven, when Rusty Schlenk would pressure Conley for the fifth position and would claim the position on lap nine. Dohm would begin to lap slower traffic on lap thirteen and would enter heavy traffic on lap fifteen. Josh Rice, who would start thirteenth, would make his way into the top five on lap fourteen and would immediately start pressuring Gilpin for fourth and would take the position on lap eighteen. The second caution of the event would wave one lap later on lap nineteen when Austin Lay and Devin Gilpin would tangle in turn two, with Gilpin going to the work area to replace a flat right-rear tire and return. The restart would see Dohm maintain the lead, while James Rice and Josh Rice would Daniels for second and third, shuffling Daniels back to fourth, while Conley would maintain fifth. Schlenk would go side-by-side with Conley with fifth on lap twenty and would take the position on lap twenty-one, with Josh Rice grabbing second from younger brother James Rice on the same circuit. The final caution of the event would wave on lap twenty-six when Rob Anderzack would lose a driveshaft entering turn one and would collect Gilpin and Jeff Babcock, with all three drivers finished for the event. The restart would see Dohm again maintain the race lead, with Josh Rice and James Rice second and third, Daniels in fourth, and Conley retaking the fifth position from Schlenk. As Dohm motored away a bit once again, Cody Mahoney would make his way into the top five on lap twenty-nine by Conley and would run down Daniels and take fourth on lap thirty-five. Dohm would catch slower lapped traffic again on lap thirty-seven, but would be able to stave off any challenges from Josh Rice and grab the win, with Josh Rice finishing second and James Rice taking third. Mahoney and Schlenk would complete the top five. The remainder of the top ten finishers would be Daniels, R.J. Conley, Jared Hawkins, nineteenth starting Ryan Missler, and eighteenth starting Tyler Collins.

The next event for the Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series Fueled by VP Racing Fuels will be Saturday June 15 at Mudlick Valley Raceway in Wallingford, KY paying $10,000 to win and $500 to start. The event is presented by Jent Logging and Story Realty.
